About

The Campaign

Let's play a game. Close your eyes and think of a hero. Do they look anything like you? Do they act anything like you? Why or why not? That is the intrigue behind role-playing games. The role you play is beyond that of a player - it is that of a character. However, that does not mean there is no residual "player" in the character you create.
In today's world, people seek to adhere to both sides of a coin. We seek attention but would rather be perceived as humble than arrogant. We seek success but have no idea where to start. We turn to our vices as a respite, and we end up in places like a table with a box of dice, wondering why it is that we do what we do.
Here's where this passion project comes in.
I want to figure out why people do what they do, what makes them choose to play a murderhobo or always take a pacifist route. I want to explore the juxtaposition that is a sweet child playing a murderous barbarian or becoming obsessed with Grand Theft Auto. Why is it that we insert ourselves into positions we would never want to be in willingly? I'm here to understand how our minds work in tandem with role-playing games and how these brain functions hold purchase in the real world.
